This year at the Freedom Project we received a tremendous donation that allowed us to purchase 10 Chromebooks for our students. Freedom Fellows type papers, search for colleges and universities, and complete online homework. But when all ten computers are being used, our internet slows to a crawl! It becomes almost impossible for the computers to function as they should. Students lose papers and spend countless minutes watching blank and incomplete screens.

Sunflower is only serviced by one internet company, Sledge Internet. They are literally our next door neighbors on Delta Ave, and they give us the best they got. But there isn't the infrastructure to provide us the high-speed internet our students need!

Digital access is a critical part of providing educational opportunity and high-quality programming.

Here is a great article from Wired Magazine that looks at the struggle in Mississippi to access the digital world! Oh yeah, and our Freedom Fellow Ms. Edwards is quoted!
