PSAT The PSAT is a test. PSAT stands for Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. The test covers verbal, math, and written skills. You usually take it during your Junior year in High School. It is given to you by the school. You can score anywhere from 200 to 800 on each section of the test. The average score on each section is 500. Based on the score you make, you will receive information on scholarships and colleges. If you do very well on the test you will qualify for a National Merit Scholarship. These are some of the things you need to know about the PSAT. SAT I and SAT II The "SAT" stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test. You can take this test any time you're ready to take it. You have to pay $24 to take the test. Your test score will range from a 200 to an 800. In order to get a good score, you have to get more than half of your questions right. The test covers both verbal and math questions, so your total score will be between 400 and 1600. The Sat II tests you on different subjects in Math, History, English, Science, and Foreign Language. All colleges do not require you to take the SAT II. If it does not say it is required on your college application, you do not have to take it. You can also take this test more than one time. Test scores are one of the six things that colleges expect you to have in order to get into their college. The other five things that colleges look for are your essays, recommendations, high school records, extracurricular activities, and interviews. ACT High school students have a lot to think about as their high school years are rolling by and college is straight ahead. Taking tests like the ACT and SAT is one of the most important things to get yourself prepared for those long 4 years of hard work! The ACT is a multiple-choice test that is needed for entering colleges in the United States and even Canada. The test has four subjects: English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. The test measures what you know, if you understand it, and how well you do in the subject. Some students get nervous and have doubts that they won't pass the test. But there are ways that you can help yourself prepare for the ACT.
They also have books on preparing for the ACT. So maybe you students should pick up one of those books and get ready for the ACT! It is important to take the ACT because you have the choice to enter any college of your choice. American College Testing, the organization that created the ACT, says that, since these tests are based on a high school level, students are usually comfortable with taking this test. It also has a low cost of $24.00, so anyone can take it. There are many ways you can register to take the ACT. You can register online to save more time and it's very easy, but to pay for it use a credit card. If you want to take the test outside the United States it will cost more. It's $24.00 plus $16.00. Make sure that the money is American money. For this test you are timed on each section. Let's take English for instance; you have 75 questions and 45 minutes to answer them. In the English section, there are paragraphs to read and you have to find the best sentence that makes sense for each underlined sentence. In math you have 60 minutes to answer 60 questions. It's best not to spend a lot of time on one question; if you don't know it, keep going to the next question. An example question is: a rectangle is twice as long as it is wide; if the width of the rectangle is 3 inches, what is the rectangle's area, in square inches? So what's the answer? You might say that this test sounds hard, but it's actually not. The ACT is for your benefit and to help you enter college. I hope that this information that I have given you provides an insight into the test and what you need to do to prepare yourself for the ACT. My advice to you is to go out and take this test now! AP Advance Placement (AP) classes are classes that prepare you for college, such as AP English, AP History, AP Calculus, and so on. These classes get you ready to take the AP test. If you pass these tests, you will get extra credit in college and possibly graduate earlier than your other classmates that didn't take the test. Most people that take these tests are seniors in high school. The scale of the scoring is between one and five. If you make a one on the test, you will get no credit from any college because that's the lowest score you can make. It's possible you would qualify if you make a three. If you make a five you're extremely well-qualified, because that what's colleges are looking for -- high grades on tests. The cost to take the test is $77 and your school keeps $7 of that to cover administrative expenses. |
